Something that I think will help prospective authors and artists is to know when their work needs to be done and in for a particluar issue. For authors/artists that are writing a piece for a specific issue, these are the deadlines that we need the mateiral by in order to work it into the magazine. For unsolicited submissions, we try to publish them as soon as we can and so these deadlines represent the soonest the article might get published. For example, an unsolicited article that is received before Dec 1st, 2013 has a chance to make it into issue 7 due out in January. However, if we have already filled that issue with content the new material may not make it in until issue 8. We'll try to keep you informed of which issue your submission is expected to appear in.
Some of our issues will have themes (see issue 6 below). Articles that fall under that general theme will have a much greater chance of making it into the issue if received before the deadline than an article that doesn't match the theme as well. Keep that in mind when submitting as well.
Here is the schedule for the next few issues:
Issue |
Submission Deadline | Expected Publication Date | Theme |
6 - Fall 2013 | September 1st, 2013 | Mid October 2013 | Sathar |
7 - Winter 2013 | December 1st, 2013 | Mid January 2014
8 - Spring 2014 | March 1st, 2014 | Mid April 2014
9 - Summer 2014 | June 1st, 2014 | Mid July 2014
10 - Fall 2014 | September 1st, 2014 | Mid October 2014 |
We might even extend the deadline occasionally, espeically if we are already working with you on revisions to an existing submission. However, it always is better to be early than late on these things so get your submissions in as soon as you can for the best chance of getting your material in print.
